Chasing Talent has partnered with a Canadian investment firm recognized for their modern approach, entrepreneurial and disruptor thinking to hire a Corporate Development professional. 

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Reporting directly to senior leadership, the VP, Corporate Development will be at the centre of the firm’s strategic and M&A agenda. Reporting into the Chief Growth Officer, this is a high-impact, cross-functional role where you evaluate opportunities, build the financial architecture behind strategic decisions, and partner with business leaders across the firm.

For someone with a strong capital markets and corporate finance foundation, this role offers direct exposure to firm-wide strategy, meaningful cross-functional partnerships, and the chance to do work that shapes how the business grows. You will operate in a lean, high-ownership environment where strong analytical thinking and sound judgment are valued over process and hierarchy.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Evaluate M&A opportunities and strategic partnerships in the asset management and wealth spaces, including financial modelling, due diligence, and executive-level presentations

  • Build and maintain a coverage list of Alternative Asset Managers (public and private), Long Only Managers, and Investment Counselling Firms

  • Support corporate finance initiatives including budgeting, forecasting, and multi-year financial planning

  • Prepare and analyze financial models, management reporting, and executive presentations

  • Coordinate and manage through and meaningful Due Diligence Processes on M&A targets with internal teams and external professionals 

  • Partner with business lines, including investment management, divisions, HR, and Marketing, to build materials for M&A targets

  • Support capital allocation analysis, fee analysis, and revenue modelling across business segments

  • Contribute to regulatory and investor reporting processes as required

  • Identify and implement process improvements across finance and reporting workflows

What You Bring

  • A growth mindset, we are not a sleepy asset manager; we operate more like a fintech

  • 7 to 10 years of progressive experience in corporate finance, FP&A, investment banking, or a related field

  • Demonstrated experience in or direct exposure to the wealth management or asset management industry, a strong differentiator

  • CPA, MBA, or CFA designation (completed or in progress) is a significant asset

  • Exceptional financial modelling and analytical skills; proficiency in Excel is required

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to distill complex financial information for senior audiences

  • High attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, and a collaborative mindset

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving, results-oriented environment
